Louise Theresa Becker was born on December 17, 1919, at Carroll, Iowa, to John and Cecilia Neppl Berger. She received her education at a country school near Willey, Iowa. After her schooling, Louise worked as a hired girl and farm worker for the neighbors. Louise was married to Raymond John Becker on January 13, 1942 at Wesley, Iowa. The couple lived in Bancroft, Iowa for 1 year and Livermore, Iowa for 6 years. They then moved south of Wesley, Iowa and lived there for 3 years before moving north of town, where they farmed for the next 32 years. Raymond and Louise moved into Wesley in 1974. Louise worked at Hutchins, Iowa and candled eggs. She then worked at the Walker Grocery Store in Wesley for a time and then worked for Directory Services in Algona, Iowa for 13 years. Louise then worked for the Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt, Iowa in the housekeeping department, retiring in 1986.

Louise was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wesley, where she also belonged to the C. D. of A. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, raising flowers, traveling and baking. After her daughter’s death in 1983, Louise was kept busy helping to raise Lois’s eight children.

Louise’s husband, Raymond preceded her in death in 1993. Louise became a resident of the Good Samaritan Communities in Algona in September of 2004. She died there on Sunday, February 5, 2006, at the age of 86.

Louise is survived by her son, Duane Becker of Dickens, Iowa and her son-in-law, Dale Wingert, Wesley, Iowa. Also surviving are her grandchildren; Lisa Wingert, Lynn Wingert, Leah Gillen (Bill), Lara Kleier (Daryl), Dana Wingert (Tami), Deon Wingert (Gina), Lacy Halsrud (Jason), Lany Mitchell (Matt), Brett Becker (Maria), Brian Becker (Lisa), Bethany Becker, 20 great grandchildren, 2 brothers, Leon Berger and wife, JoAnn, Waverly, Iowa, Marvin Berger and wife, Mary Jo, Toledo, Iowa and her sister, Irene Elbert, Whittemore, Iowa. Louise was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Raymond, her daughter, Lois Wingert, 2 sisters, Lorene Erdman and Mildred Studer and her brother, Paul Berger.
