George Delmar Angus was born in rural Greenwood Township, Kossuth County Iowa on October 18, 1911, son of Robert T. and Eursula (Rickert) Angus. He attended Brookside rural school until the 9th grade then graduated from Lone Rock High School in 1929. He was active in baseball, basketball, and was in many school plays.

Delmar has been a member of the Presbyterian Church since early youth, serving on its many offices throughout his life. One October 30, 1932 George Delmar married Neva Evelyn Blanchard. Evelyn passed away on October 3, 1997.

Delmar and Neva began married life in the tenant house on the Ralph Morgan farm five miles southwest of Algona. Delmar was employed there 5 years. On March 1, 1938 they moved to the Paul Kriethe farms as renters.

On March 1, 1968 they moved to acreage in Burt and he still remained active on the Kriethe farm in partnership with his son Robert and then his grandson Tom, being the 3rd generation as farm operators. Delmar’s motto was “use it or loose it”.

Delmar served many years on the Elevator board, the Township school board and also the Burt Community School Board. He also was a Township Committee Man during World War II.

G. Delmar Angus died Sunday, March 25, 2007 at the Titonka Care Center, at the age of 95.

Survivors include two daughters, Georgia Ann Christenson of Algona and Joyce Elaine Angus of Burt; a daughter-in-law, Maxine Angus of Burt; a sister, Grace Davis of Phoenix, AZ; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son Robert; his wife Evelyn; four brothers; and three sisters.
