Kenneth James Bernhard was born on October 7, 1962 the son of Paul and Ersel (Bierle) Bernhard. He died unexpectedly on November 6, 2009.
He grew up in Bancroft, Iowa and was one of the greatest baseball players to graduate from St. Johns High School. After many years and just as many colleges, he finally received a Bachelors degree from Iowa State University and lived in Des Moines until his death.
Ken loved to socialize, was an avid sports fan and an exceptional golfer. He was an ex-officio member (thanks to friends and family) of several Golf Courses.
Ken is survived by his father Paul and 10 brothers and sisters: JoAnn Quinn and her husband Erwin of Kansas City, MO, Brenda Vaske and her husband Darryl of Bancroft, Tom Bernhard and his wife RaeLynn of Shorewood, IL, Audrey Lampe and her husband Phil of Burt, Jerry Bernhard and his wife Angi of Mason City, Angie Dostal and her husband Jodie of Darien, CT, Matt Bernhard and his wife Faye of Algona, Tony Bernhard of Chicago, IL, Chris Bernhard and his wife Cindy of Des Moines, and Sarah Thelen and her husband Tom of Alden, MN, along with 25 nieces and nephews and 2 great-nephews and a great-niece.
Ken was preceded in death by his mother Ersel, his grandparents Maurice and Ella Bernhard and Charles and Alice Bierle and a nephew Jayden Thelen.
