Mrs. Kathryn “Ted” Rayburn Johnson, 84, retired nurse and resident of West 15th Street, died Thursday, September 24, 2009 at Life Care Center.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12noon Saturday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. James Allen Bryant will deliver the eulogy. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com.

The Maury County native was the daughter of the late William Woodliffe Rayburn, Jr. and Willie Mae Tatum Rayburn. She was married to Albert Sydney Johnson who preceded her in death in July 1986. As a licensed practical nurse for over 25 years she worked for several different nursing homes in the area. She enjoyed membership in the Red Hat Society. Mrs. Johnson was a member of Craft Memorial United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her son, Pete Johnson of Columbia; brother, William “Billy” (Kathryn) Rayburn of Pensacola, Florida; five grandchildren, Tricia (Clem) Jones of Florence, Kentucky, James Allen (Susan) Bryant of Columbia, Michael (Tracy) Bryant of Murfreesboro, Kelly Johnson of Lawrenceburg, Kris (Shaun) Johnson of Kentucky; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathryn Bryant; sister, Media Rayburn Lankford; and brother, Douglas T. Rayburn.

Pallbearers will be William Rayburn, IV, Robert Rayburn, James Allen Bryant, Michael Bryant, Craig Richardson, and Kris Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Donna Foster, “Mama” Reed and Carolyn Reed.
