Rebecca Ann Murphy Jones, 69, retired manager of Columbia Regional Credit Union and resident of Mt. Olivet Road, died Thursday, October 15, 2009 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with David Morris and Curtis Dowdy officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Monday from 9:00 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1864, Columbia 38402 or Highland Church of Christ Building Fund, 497 East James Campbell Boulevard, Columbia 38401. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com.

Born in Davidson County, she was the daughter of the late Dewey Luttrell Murphy and Annie Bell Burney Murphy. She was a 1958 graduate of Columbia Central High School and attended Columbia Business College.

Mrs. Jones was a member of Highland Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Wayne Mitchell Jones, whom she married September 3, 1961; daughter, Bethany (Gary) Baucom of Columbia; son, Mark Mitchell (Shari) Jones of Ridgeland, Mississippi; sisters, Anita (Keith) Brumble of Ayden, North Carolina and Marlene Harvey of Columbia; brothers, Dow (Elaine)Murphy of Franklin and David (Anne) Murphy of Columbia; grandchildren, Andrew Mitchell Jones, Luke James Baucom, and Brett Mitchell Baucom; several nieces and nephews.

Active pallbearers are Andrew Mitchell Jones, Chris Murphy, Matthew Murphy, Brian Brumble, Gary Baucom, Bill Rayburn, Bob Rayburn, and Keith Brumble. Honorary pallbearers are Walter Hurt,Don Briggs, Eddie Inman, and Rick Daniel.
