WARSAW - Leonard J. Lensenhuber, retired acting superintendent of the City of Buffalo Streets Sanitation Department, died Saturday in his home in Warsaw after a short illness. He was 75.
Born in Buffalo, he worked for the City of Buffalo Streets Sanitation Department from 1962 until his retirement in 1985, holding the postion of acting superintendent.
After retirement, he moved from South Buffalo to Warsaw, where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, horseback riding, camping and raising chickens and pigs.
Mr. Lensenhuber was "a real outdoorsman," said his son, Melvin of South Buffalo. He was a member of the Johnsonburg Conservation Club for 15 years.
In addition to his son, Mr. Lensenhuber is survived by his wife of 53 years, the former Carmela Fricano; two daughters, Colleen Forsythe of East Amherst and Valerie Kelchlin of Alden; a sister, Gloria Jane Rummell of Alden; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a date to be announced.
