Of St. Petersburg,Fl formerly of Buffalo, NY,December 26, 2004; beloved husband of Betty (Austick) Lates; loving father of Betty (Mike) Lopez, Susan (Kevin) Nye and John Jr.(Terry) Lates; dear brother of Theresa (late Joseph) Lazarro, Catherine (late Harold) Eschberger, William (Patricia), Thomas (Beverly) Lates, Late Joan (William) Kennedy and the late Mike and Sissy Lates; Cherished grandfather (papa) of Jessica,Jacob, Heather, Melissa, Trevor and Tyler; Also survived by many nieces and nephews. The family will be present to receive friends on Wednesday 7-9pm and Thursday 2-4 & 7-9pm at the O'Connell-Murphy Funeral Home, 2286 South Park Ave. where funeral will be held Friday at 9:15 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in the Church of the Holy Family at 10AM. Mr. Lates was a member of the Hamburg Moose Lodge and the Son of American Legion of St. Petersburg,Fl. He was also an avid NY Yankees and Buffalo Bill fan. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations may be made to the American Heart & Lung Assn. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.
