Evelyn J. Bechel, age 87, of Menomonie, WI died Monday, May 12, 2003 at the Dunn County Health Care Center in Menomonie. The former Evelyn Williams was born January 26, 1916 in the Town of Red Cedar, Dunn Co., WI to Birney and Minnie (Koepke) Williams. She was baptized Nov. 13, 1916 and later confirmed on May 31, 1931 at Peace Lutheran Church in Menomonie where she has been a lifelong member. Evelyn married Marvin Benson, and later married Harold Bechel in 1977 at Peace Lutheran Church. They both preceded her in death. Evelyn enjoyed bowling, fishing, crocheting, picking berries, gardening and playing Bingo and cards. She also enjoyed dancing on Sunday afternoons at Club 10 and caring for her African Violets. She was a member of the Women of the Moose, Chapter 682 in Menomonie. Evelyn has lived in the Menomonie area all of her life, the past four years she has resided at the Dunn County Health Care Center. Evelyn was a loving mother and had many friends. She was also committed to the Lord Jesus Christ. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Evelyn is survived by: 4 sons, DuWayne Benson of Bellevue, NE Gerald (Mary) Benson of Woodbury, MN Dennis (Jane) Benson of Two Rivers, WI Brian (Vonda) Benson of Reedsburg, WI 12 grandchildren 11 great-grandchildren 1 sister, Bernice Solberg of Cottage Grove, OR And other relatives and friends She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Marvin Benson and second husband, Harold Bechel; 3 brothers, Walt, Laverne and Hugh Williams; and cousins, Herman and Ruth Ziehl. Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM on Saturday, May 17, 2003 at Peace Lutheran Church in Menomonie, with Rev. Dale Freberg officiating. Burial will be in Forest Center Cemetery in the Town of Spring Brook, Dunn Co., WI. Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie and at the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday. | ||
