| | | JANICE CAROL BOCHMAN
Janice Carol Meyer Bochman, of Menomonie, concluded her earthly life on Dec 30th, 2007 after a struggle with renal cancer.
Janice was born to Reual and Helen Meyer on October 30th, 1931 and was raised on a farm near Elk Mound, Wisconsin. In 1949, Janice graduated from Elk Mound High School and continued her education at Luther Hospital School of Nursing (Eau Claire) and North Central College in Naperville, IL.
In 1954, Janice married Melvin Bochman. They settled on the dairy farm owned by Melvin and his parents near Menomonie (1 mile north of Rusk) where they lived the remainder of their lives. Melvin and Janice were blessed with 3 children: Jeffrey (1956), David (1957), and Julie (1963).
Life on the dairy farm was busy. Family time together and spiritual values were treasured. All three children expressed personal faith in Christ. Following high school, they each attended Crown College (formerly St. Paul Bible College) where they each met their spouses.
The foundation for Janice’s life was her personal and practical faith in God. She was known for her strength of character and convictions. Those close to her also enjoyed her teasing nature and delightful sense of humor. Janice’s perspectives were always anchored in principles and well-developed thought. Her passion for truth guided her personal growth as well as her interactions with others.
The last 40 years of her life were characterized by a focus on personal Bible study and helping others to grow in their knowledge of God. Janice had a deep love for the Word of God. She left a rich spiritual heritage in the lives of many. Her life was characterized by a single-minded focus and active dependence on God that applied to all areas of life.
The last chapter of Janice's life was primarily invested in care for her husband. Together they walked through his 15 year struggle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease). Caring for her husband gave her great satisfaction. In the midst of the debilitating disease, Janice and Melvin consistently demonstrated an under-girding peace derived from their active faith in God. Melvin passed away on Feb 9th, 2007. None expected that Janice would follow within less than a year.
Janice was a caring wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Melvin Bochman. Janice is survived by her brothers: Richard Meyer of Lodi, Wisconsin, Harold Meyer of Menomonie, and Howard Meyer of Adrian, Minnesota. Janice is also survived by her children: Jeff (Darlene) of Menomonie, David (Debbie) of Meridian, Idaho; and Julie (Mike) Thompson of Kalispell, MT. as well as 10 grandchildren; Michael, Kathryn, Heidi, Timothy (Marcie), Rebekah (Rivers) Camp, Susan, Melanie, Ryan, Stephan, Anna, and one great-grandson; Ethan John Camp, and many other beloved friends and family members.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm on March 7th, 2008 at the Menomonie Alliance Church. Following the service there will be an opportunity to greet the family.
