Leonard William Bertelson, age 85, of Menomonie, WI died Friday, March 7, 2008 at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire. He was born October 22, 1922 in the Town of Dunn, Dunn Co., WI to William and Ethel (Johnson) Bertelson. Leonard married Betty Creaser on April 28, 1945 at the Louisville Church in the Town of Dunn. Leonard farmed all his life in Louisville until retiring in 1997. After his retirement, he enjoyed delivering The Dunn County News right up until the present time. He was a member of New Hope Lutheran Church in Downsville. Leonard is survived by: His wife Betty of Menomonie Two daughters, Diane Stevens of Stillwater, MN Rita (Randy) Smith of Menomonie A son, David W. Bertelson of Menomonie Eight grandchildren, Brian (Shannon) Stevens, Brenda (Bob) Berg, Renee Smith (Bryan), Ryan (Julie) Smith, Charles, Martin and Matthew Bertelson, and Elissa Schulner Three great-grandchildren, Cole and Garrett Stevens and Brett Smith He is also survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends He was preceded in death by his parents William and Ethel Bertelson, two brothers, George and Donald Bertelson, and an infant daughter. Leonard will be remembered as a very generous, loving and caring father and grandfather, and will be missed by all who knew him. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at New Hope Lutheran Church in Downsville, with Pastor Steve Carlson officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery in the Town of Dunn, Dunn Co., WI. Family and friends are welcome from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Monday at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie and at the church one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
