Shirley (Hathaway - Everett) Blaney, age 72, of Red Wing, MN passed away Sept. 5, 2008 at St. Brigid’s at HI-Park Assisted Living. Shirley was born Nov. 27, 1935 in Menomonie, WI to William Hathaway and Dorane (Lemon) Debee-Olson. As a young child, Shirley became ill and lost her hearing. Being deaf never seemed to stop her though. She lived in Menomonie, WI, Milwaukee, WI; & Delavan, WI. It was there in Delavan that she attended deaf school. When she was finished with school, she moved to St. Paul, MN. She worked for the “Atlas” company for two years and then moved to Red Wing, MN with her first husband, Robert Everett. They were married October 1, 1955. While in Red Wing, she worked for Red Wing Shoe Company. They also had three children. In 1972, Robert passed away suddenly. She remarried two years later. Shirley and Edward J. Blaney were married on June 28, 1974 in Madison, WI. They had one son while residing there. They later moved to Menomonie, WI and upon Edwards’s retirement, they moved to Red Wing, MN to be closer to family. Shirley and Edward lived together at St. Brigid’s at HI-Park Assisted Living until her death on Friday. Shirley was a very kind and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed going to family reunions and visiting with all the people. She also enjoyed doings all sorts of crafts and sewing. But what Shirley liked most of all was to spend time with her children and grandkids. She was very proud of all of them and would often be seen showing off pictures in the dining hall at St. Brigid’s. Shirley is survived by: Her husband, Edward J Blaney Her sister, Kate (Debee) Doherty of Melbourne, FL Her children from her 1st marriage to Robert Everett, Debra (Everett) & Mitch Drenckhahn of Lake City, MN Robert Everett & Wendy (Turnbell) of Red Wing, MN Judy (Everett) & Richard Hunt of Red Wing, MN Her son from her 2nd marriage to Edward Blaney, Shawn Blaney & Kris (Hubner) 8 grandchildren: Michelle Drenckhahn, Misty Drenckhahn, Ryan Hunt, William Hunt, Thomas Hunt, Ceri Everett, Preston Blaney, Barrent Blaney. 3 great-grandchildren: Briella Carmichael, Avianna Carmichael, and Gabriel Goitom. She was preceded in death by both her parents and her 1st husband, Robert Everett. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2008 at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie, WI with Pastor Daryl Gehlbach officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery in the Town of Menomonie, Dunn Co., WI. Family and friends are welcome 4:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008 and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home. | ||
