Dorothy Jane Austin, 85, of Menomonie, died peacefully on Saturday, March 28, 2009, at the American Lutheran Home in Menomonie, WI. Dorothy Barron was born to Simon and Gala (Klatt) Barron on June 17th, 1923, in Menomonie WI. She married Elwood Austin in August of 1946. During World War II, Dorothy served her country in the Navy as a nurse as part of the “WAVES” program (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service). She worked as a clerk at both Cassel’s Apparel and the Farmer’s Store in Menomonie. Dorothy was a long time member of Christ Lutheran Church and was very involved in many of the church activities. She always had a big warm smile and made everyone feel welcome. She is survived by a daughter, Susan, and her family from Sparks, NV. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 2nd, at Christ Lutheran Church in Menomonie, WI with Pastor Geoff Scott officiating. There will be a visitation 1 hr prior to service. Burial is at Lower Weston Cemetery, Twp of Weston, Dunn County. | ||
