James J. Barton, age 53, of Boyceville, WI died unexpectedly on Thursday, June 24, 2004 at his home.
He was born March 23, 1951 in St. Paul, MN to Cyril and Bernice (Olchowa) Barton. The family lived in St. Paul for 13 years before moving to Boyceville. During his youth, James was in a boys youth choir which traveled all over the United States. He graduated from Boyceville High School in 1969. After graduation he entered the U.S. Air Force. Sgt. James Barton distinguished himself by meritorious achievement as Crew Chief, Bomber Branch, 307th Organizational Maintenance Squadron, 340th Consolidated Aircraft Maintenance Wing in U-Tapao, Thailand where he received the Bronze Star Medal.
Jim worked at Anderson Windows for 29 years at Bayport, MN. He married Jane Traxler on Dec. 5, 1980 in Menomonie, WI. Together they had one son, Jesse.
Jim was a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Boyceville. He also enjoyed fishing in Alaska with his son, Jesse.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Bernice Barton; grandparents, Adolph and Mary Barton; an uncle, Jerome Barton; a brother-in-law, John Matson; and his father-in-law, Raymond Traxler.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Monday, June 28, 2004 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Boyceville, WI with Father Jerry Hoeser officiating. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, with military honors. Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie, where there will be a prayer service at 7:00 PM. And there will be a visitation at the church one hour prior to the service on Monday.
