Carol Louise (Gale) Amundson, longtime Menomonie resident, passed from this life on the 4th of January 2005. Few who met her will ever forget her. Carol’s frank, ornery, sometimes gruff exterior belied a very gentle, kind and generous heart. For those who truly knew her, she will be dearly missed.

Carol collected dolls, curiosities and cat whiskers. She loved cats and dogs, was an avid reader and also loved music. She knew and could recite every little barroom “ditty” she ever heard and had a wonderful and very mischievous sense of humor.

Carol was born in Vance Creek to Elmer and Lillian Gale and was pre-deceased by her husband Earl and son Danny. She is survived by her son David (Portland) and daughters Diane (Phoenix) and Darla (Menomonie.) “Gramma” also leaves five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A memorial and celebration of her life will be held in the spring at Thatcher’s Park, near her beloved home – Graytown Airport.

Rest in peace Carol and know you are well loved and missed. Give our love to Danny and Pop. Love Darla, Diane and David.

“I see a hand you cannot see,
It beckons me away.
I hear a voice you do not hear,
It says I cannot stay.”
