Fern G. Baxter, age 99, of Menomonie, WI died Friday, February 25, 2005 at the Dunn County Health Care Center in Menomonie.
Fern Greselda Rassbach was born Dec. 3, 1905 in the Town of Sheridan, Dunn County, WI to John H. and Jennie E. (Brown) Rassbach. Fern married George A. Baxter on Aug. 17, 1927 in St. Paul, MN. Together they owned and operated the family store for many years in the Township of Hay River, the area that became known as Baxterville.
In addition to helping in the store, Fern also taught third and fourth grades in the rural school system in Dunn County and in Boyceville from 1921 to 1961.
Fern’s greatest enjoyment was traveling and exploring the many countries she visited. She and her sister, Gwen, made it to every one of the fifty states and also toured Europe, Africa, Asia and South America. During her trips she took many photographs that she shared with various civic organizations, youth clubs and various schools. Fern was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Menomonie and also the Dunn County Historical Society.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George; 2 sisters, Orpha Andrise and Gwen Weinstock.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 1, 2005 at the United Methodist Church in Menomonie, with Rev. Rosalind Dryver-Scott officiating. Burial will be in Christ Lutheran/Halvorson Cemetery in Menomonie. Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Monday at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie and at the church one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
