Vernon M. Boe, age 81, of Irvington, WI died Wednesday, March 08, 2006 at home with his family. He was born Feb. 9, 1925 in the Town of Otter Creek, Dunn Co., WI to Lester and Rosella (Dalen) Boe. He was the youngest of their two sons. He went to school in Minneapolis, MN. In high school he played football, hockey, basketball and baseball. After graduation, he moved back to the Wheeler area and worked on the Oscar Stevens farm, where he met and married Alta Mae Stevens on Feb. 10, 1945 in Chippewa Falls, WI. When the farm sold, he worked on the Glen Anderson farm and then worked for Sweeney Brothers. Vernon and his family later moved to Irvington and he worked as a lab technician at Memorial Hospital in Menomonie until retiring in 1980. Vernon was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Menomonie. In his retirement he enjoyed gardening, stamp collecting, playing cards, doing word search puzzles and watching TV. He was also a Minnesota Vikings fan. Vernon is survived by: His children all of Menomonie, Gary Boe Linda (Larry) Gales Gail (Rod) Willert Kathryn (Dennis) Path Larry (Darlene) Boe His grandchildren, Kelly Hintzman, Brian (Joni) Grutt, Kevin Path (fiancé, Jeni), Tammy (Joel) Harper, Joseph Willert, David (Julie) Boe, and Lisa (John) Bird. Great-grandchildren, Tanner and Reid Path, Ryan Willert, Paige and Breanna Grutt, and Tiernee Harper. A sister-in-law, Lois Boe of Menomonie Nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Alta Mae; a son, Scott David Boe; a grandson, Kirby Ryan Willert; a sister-in-law, Norma Anderson; and his only brother, Erlin Boe. Funeral services will be at 2:30 PM Friday, March 10, 2006 at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie, with Rev. John Mikkelson officiating. Burial will be in Grand View Cemetery in the Town of Dunn, Dunn Co., WI. Family and friends are welcome at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Friday.
