Donald E. Blakley, age 84, of Menomonie, WI went to be with his Lord on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, after a long and courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis.
He was born August 24, 1918 in the Township of Red Cedar, Dunn County, WI to Eber and Phoebe (Mars) Blakley. He was a life-long resident of Rusk Prairie.
Don attended Rural School District #5 in the Township of Red Cedar, and the Dunn County School of Agriculture and Domestic Science.
On August 5, 1943, he married Rosella Alleman in Hammond, WI. They purchased thte family farm in Red Cedar Township, and resided there until 1982. At that time they sold the farm, retaining one acre, where they built their home and presently reside.
Besides farming, Don worked in sales and retired from Northwest Equipment, Eau Claire, in 1983.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and reading. He was an accomplished storyteller, and had a wonderful sense of humor. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Don was a member of the United Methodist Church, Menomonie. He was also a member and Past Master of Masonic Lodge #164 F. & A.M., the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Eau Claire, and the Zor Shrine in
Madison. He was also a member of Moose Lodge #1584, and of the Eastern Star in Menomonie.

He is further survived by other relatives and many friends
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, James.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, Feb. 17, 2003 at the United Methodist Church in Menomonie, with Rev. Marilynn Rushton officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Falls Cemetery in the Town of Red Cedar. Friends and relatives are welcome at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Sunday and at the church one hour prior to the service on Monday. Masonic services will be held at 7:00 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to everyone who has shown their support through prayers, visits, phone calls and cards, during the time Don was unable to leave his home. Your thoughtfulness will always be appreciated.
