Agnes L. Austreng, age 98, of Menomonie, WI died on Good Friday, April 18, 2003 at the American Lutheran Home in Menomonie. The former Agnes Luella Kraft was born August 1, 1904 in the Town of Dunn, Dunn County, Wisconsin to Charles and Ida (Jacobs) Kraft. She married Harry Austreng in 1940 at the Little Brown Church in the Vale. Harry was a barber and Agnes worked at Montgomery Wards and the Fair Store in Menomonie, retiring in 1970. Harry preceded her in death in 1945. Agnes was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and other organizations including, Pythian Sisters, Royal Neighbors, Homemakers Club and was active at the Menomonie Senior Center. In retirement Agnes traveled abroad to Germany and Norway, and also visited every one of the fifty states spending many winters in Florida. Since October of 1995, Agnes has been a resident of the American Lutheran Home where she enjoyed the religious activities and programs offered there. Agnes is survived by: A sister-in-law, Inez Goodell of Menomonie A nephew, Archie (Ann) Abbott of Menomonie Four nieces, Arlene Hayden of Knapp Idell (Ed) Shield of Carson City, AZ Velma Diller of Mondovi Phyllis Kraft of Menomonie Other relatives and friends She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harry in 1945; two brothers, Henry (Jenny) Kraft and Eddie Kraft; a sister, Edna (Ralph) Abbott; brothers-in-law, Clarence, Frank, Edwin and Henry Austreng; and sisters-in-law, Lillian Krueger and Lori Calhoun; and nephews, Paul (Alice) Kraft, Charles Kraft, Francis Diller and Ed Hayden Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 22, 2003 at Peace Lutheran Church in Menomonie, with Rev. Dave Whelan and Rev. Paul Pillman officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in the Town of Dunn, Dunn Co., WI. Relatives and friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie is handling arrangements. | ||
