Harley W. Hayes, age 92, formerly of Menomonie, WI passed away Saturday, September 26, 2009 at the Colfax Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born August 9, 1917 in the Town of Colburn, Adams Co., WI to Arthur and Ruby (Stone) Hayes. Harley married Ione Lewis on July 1, 1939 and after her death on Jan. 7, 1956 he later married Lois Vasey on Jan. 18, 1957 at the Burr-Wesleyan Church near Hillsboro, WI. Harley moved to Menomonie with his family in 1959. Harley farmed for a number of years, he served in the Civilian Conservation Corps (C.C.C.) and later worked as a service manager for Brave Harvestore Inc. for many years. He was a long time faithful member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Menomonie. He enjoyed gardening and was a mechanical innovator. Harley is survived by: His wife, Lois Children, Larry (Carol) Hayes of Wheeler Alvin (Sharon) Hayes of Olathe, KS Corie (James) Upchurch of Bourbonnais, IL Charles (Kathy) Richland Center Cecil (Kelley) Hayes of Wheeler 10 grandchildren, Pete, Kari, Wayne Michael, Angela, Cindy, Isaac, Andi, Sam, Daniel and Abigale 9 great-grandchildren Two sisters and one brother Katherine Larson, Verla Stebbins and Horace Hayes Many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Ione, his son, 1st Lt. Wayne Hayes U.S. Marine Corps died in Vietnam, his brothers and sisters, Irene, Loie, Darwin, Norma, Orian and Ray, and an infant granddaughter Ann. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009 at the First Church of the Nazarene in Menomonie, WI with Rev. Wes Harper and Rev. Chuck Hayes officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery in the Twp. of Dunn, Dunn Co., WI. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie and at the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
