MYRTLE “MYRT” KEYES

Myrtle “Myrt” Keyes, age 91, of Menomonie died peacefully on Saturday October 3, 2009, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, Grand Junction, CO.

She was born on February 11, 1918 in Dunn County, Township of Stanton, to Edward & Hulda (Zahler) Schutz of Boyceville, WI. Myrt was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Boyceville, WI where she has been a lifelong member.

She attended Granger Elementary School and graduated from Boyceville High School. She married William H. Keyes of Knapp, WI on September 3, 1937 at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Boyceville, where they resided and raised their two children.

She was very dedicated and devoted to her husband, children, and grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing, traveling, playing cards, and walking. She loved her Lord & Savior. She will be greatly missed by her family.

Survivors include one daughter, Sharyn (Tom) Schmidt, Collbran, CO. one son, William (Joy) Keyes, Menomonie, WI. Grandchildren: Dr. Shelley (Geoff) Watters & Keelin, Pewaukee, WI. Steven (Brandy) Schmidt & Brandon, Iowa. Joe (Kate) Keyes & Peyton, Menomonie, WI. Kami (Adam) Cleveland, Menomonie, WI. Brother, Tom (Nancy) Smith, Eau Claire, WI. In-Laws, Lila Schutz, Bernetta Schutz, Edythe Schrantz, and Delbert & Evelyn Keyes. Also, many nieces, nephews and special relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Keyes, father, Edward Schutz, mother, Hulda Schutz Smith, stepfather, Thomas Smith, siblings, Wilfred Schutz, Herbert Schutz, Warren (Chub) Schutz, Rosalie (Sue) & Leonard Busch.

Funeral services will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Boyceville, WI on Saturday October 10, 2009 at 10:30 AM with Pastor Paul Carlson officiating. Visitation will be from 9-10:30am prior to the funeral service. Burial will be in Tiffany Cemetery, with lunch to follow at church.
