Anne A. Micek, age 81, of Menomonie, WI passed away Thursday, October 15, 2009 at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire, surrounded by her family. The former Anne Agnes Falendys was born Jan. 31, 1928 in Hawkins, WI to George and Mary (Niziol) Falendys. She graduated from Hawkins High School and at the age of 17 moved to Minneapolis, MN to live with cousins. While in Minneapolis, Anne worked at a Chrysler dealership, in Gambles Corp. and also as an executive secretary at IDS. Anne married Andrew P. Micek on Feb. 7, 1953 in Minneapolis. In 1960, Andy Micek and his brothers purchased the bowling alley in Menomonie, and Anne worked as a bookkeeper there. After raising her family, Anne became a licensed insurance agent and worked in the insurance field until her retirement. Anne was an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. She was church circle treasurer, helped with the original landscaping of the new church and she was a volunteer in the school library and the school lunch program. Anne was also a Eucharist Minister at St. Joseph’s as well as planning many funeral lunches. Her passion was gardening and lived to be in her garden. She collected tea cups and saucers, loved to bake, and crocheted many lovely afghans and doilies. Anne was a loving wife and mother and will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Anne is survived by: Her husband of 56 years, Andrew Her sons, David Micek of Menomonie Daniel Micek of Ramsey, MN Two grandchildren, Aimee and Anthony Micek of Coon Rapids, MN Also survived by her dear cousin Mary Ann Nalezny, and special friend Helen Ranney She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Victor and Martin Falendys and dear friend Ann Retzloff. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Monday, Oct. 19, 2009 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Menomonie, with Father Tom Krieg officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Menomonie. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 7:00 PM Sunday at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie and at the church one hour prior to the service on Monday.
