Wayne Edward Peterson, age 88, of Menomonie, WI passed away Thursday, October 29, 2009 at Red Cedar Medical Center in Menomonie. He was born September 10, 1921, in the Town of Lucas, Dunn Co., WI to Edward and Ellis (Birthman) Peterson and graduated from Menomonie High School in 1940. Wayne married Mary M. Stickney on Feb. 10, 1950 at the Parsonage of the Methodist Church in Menomonie. Together they farmed for 36 years in Dunn Co., WI, then sold the herd of milking cows and young cattle and retired but remained on the farm. They were also long time members of the United Methodist Church in Menomonie. Wayne enjoyed fishing and running the farm, and he and Mary enjoyed summer picnics and Sunday’s get together with family and close relatives. Wayne will be sadly missed by his wife of 59 years, Mary Peterson of Glenwood City His three children, Richard Peterson of Spring Valley, Robert (Joanne) Peterson of Milton, Judy Peterson of Glenwood City Three grandchildren, Catherine Peterson, Elizabeth Peterson (Austin) Bergmann and Sarah Peterson, Also survived by two brothers-in-law, Donald Hillman of Eau Claire and Norman (Imagene) Stickney, and a good neighbor and best friend, Irv Pax. He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Ellis Peterson, an uncle Wesley Birthman and beloved sister Sarah Hillman. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009 at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie, WI with Pastor Don Gribble officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Burial will be in Lucas Cemetery at a later date. | ||
