Jerry W. Heller, age 70, of Eau Claire, formerly of Menomonie, WI, passed away at his home on Tuesday, October 27, 2009. Jerry was born December 23, 1938 in Menomonie, Wisconsin to William and Elsa (Jaeger) Heller. Jerry was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Menomonie, Wisconsin. Jerry attended North Elementary School and graduated from the 8th grade at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church School, Menomonie. After school, Jerry’s first job was setting pins at the local bowling alley. Jerry worked at the Career Development Center in Eau Claire for 27 years in the woodworking department. Jerry was an avid walker. He walked daily throughout the city of Eau Claire, stopping by many businesses and friend’s homes. Jerry enjoyed seeing his friends and going out to eat with them. A special thanks to Sue Abboud and all of the staff at Grace Barstow Apartments in Eau Claire. Jerry loved his new apartment and enjoyed living there very much. Many thanks to Dan and the CHP team for their guidance of Jerry. Jerry is survived by his sister, Frances Whitney of Elk Mound; Nephews, Duane (Ning) Whitney of Walnut Creek, CA, Gene Whitney of Elk Mound, Charly Cropp of Menomonie, Michael (Corisa) Cropp of Menomonie; Nieces, Joy (Dave) Bergstrand of Menomonie, Carrie Bergstrand of Tokyo, Japan, Julie Bergstrand of Huntsville, Alabama, and Rita (Dave) Brenholt of Menomonie. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Elsa Heller, and brother in law Wayne Whitney. Jerry always had a smile for everyone and will be missed by many. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Friday, Oct. 30, 2009 at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie, with Pastor David Whelan officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in the Town of Menomonie, Dunn Co., WI.
