| | | Inwood, IA: Abbie Jungersen, 97, of Inwood, died Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at Fellowship Village, Inwood. Funeral Service will be 10:30 am Saturday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Inwood. Burial at Richland Cemetery, Inwood. Rev. John Wolf will be officiating. Visitation will be Friday until 5 at Porter Funeral Home and then 6:30- 8 pm at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Memorials may be directed to Avera/McKennan Hospice and Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
Abbie Margaret Moreland was born September 15, 1910 to Raymond and Ada (Heston) Moreland in Worthington, IN. Her family moved from Indiana to Rock Rapids, IA in 1921. Abbie graduated from Rock Rapids High School in 1929. She was a Lyon County Deputy Recorder for 6 years. Abbie was united in marriage to Raymond Jungersen on June 20, 1936. in Rock Rapids. Together they farmed until 1977 southeast of Inwood. They moved to Inwood in 1992. They moved together to Fellowship Village in July of 2003. Abbie was a member of Town and Country, Chatterso, Bethlehem Lutheran Church Women and was a 4-H and Girl Scout Leader. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles. Abbie loved her family and valued her friends.
Abbie is survived by her husband, Raymond; daughters, Judy Griffith of Chicago, IL, Nancy McFadden of Aberdeen, SD, Sally (Tarver) Bailey of Appling, GA, Jill (Dave) Linden of Littleton, CO; son, Peter (Clareen) Jungersen of Fallbrook, CA; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; brother, Charles Moreland of Whittier, CA.
She was preceded in death by her grandson, Lucas Bailey; brother, Robert Moreland; sister, Wilda DeGroot.
