| | | Grimes, CA - George Medema, 87, formerly of Rock Valley, IA, died September 16, 2008 at Colusa Regional Medical Center, Colusa, CA. Private family burial of cremains will be at Richland Cemetery, Inwood, IA a later date.
George Medema was born March 31, 1921 to Dick and Anna (Reinalda) Medema near Rock Valley, IA. George went to California at a young age, entered the U.S. Army serving during World War II in Italy. He was honorable discharged on September 27, 1945. George returned to California after the war and drove truck. He retired in Grimes, CA.
George was survived by 2 brothers: Ray Miedema (recently deceased) of Rock Valley, IA and Clarence (Geneva) Medema of Lennox, SD; 2 sisters, Winnie Fredrickson of Alcester, SD and Clazena Sorum of Canton, SD.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Anna Medema; infant sister, Klazena Medema; brother, Pete (Jennie) Medema; brothers-in-law: Gerald Fredrickson and Robert Sorum; sister-in-law, Alyce Miedema.
