Larchwood, IA: Gary Hoogendoorn, 54, of Larchwood, died Saturday, October 18, 2008 of apparent heart attack at Sanford Community Hospital, Rock Rapids, IA. Funeral Service will be 2 pm Tuesday at Netherlands Reformed Congregation at Rock Valley. Rev. P.L. Bazen will be officiating. Visitation will begin noon Monday with family present will be 6-8 pm Monday at Porter Funeral Home, Rock Valley.

Gary Wayne Hoogendoorn was born July 18, 1954 at Sioux Center, IA, son of Gilbert and Cornelia (Vanden Brink) Hoogendoorn. He graduated from West Lyon High School in 1973. Gary married Wanda Rozeboom on June 25, 1976 at Rock Valley. Together they lived by Alvord where Gary first worked for Ageson Furniture at Lester and then Gage Farm Supply. In 1988 he began farming and raising livestock SW of Lester and also did maintaince at Fellowship Village. Gary was a board member of Lyon/Sioux Rural Water and president of Country Pork.

Gary is survived by his wife, Wanda; 3 sons, Dustin (Andrea) and children Trent, Grant, and Tara of Morris, MN, Bradley (Sara) and children, Dylan and Carter of Webster City, IA, Russell (Debra) and child Ella of Luverne, MN; daughter, Dana Hoogendoorn at home; parents, Gilbert and Cornelia Hoogendoorn of Rock Rapids, IA; 3 brothers, Jerald of Rock Valley, Marlin (Debra), Dennis (Joan) all of Rock Rapids, IA; 3 sisters, Linda Rich of Bel Air, MD, Sheryl (Greg) Steuk of Sergeant Bluff, IA, Connie (Glenn) Vande Kamp of Lester, IA; mother-in-law, Jeanette Rozeboom of Rock Valley; brother-in-law, Jay (Joane) Rozeboom of Rock Valley, IA; 3 sisters-in-law, Jennie (Robert) Boyer of Inwood, IA, Carol (Leon) Reekers of Rock Valley, Tami (Scott) Kuehl of Nisswa, MN. Gary was preceded in death by his father-in-law, William Rozeboom Jr.
