| | | Rock Valley, IA: Hendrena Hamann, 93, died Monday, October 20, 2008 at Whispering Heights, Rock Valley. Funeral Service will be 10:30 am Friday at Porter Funeral Home, Rock Valley. Burial will be at Valley View Cemetery. Rev. Jerry Robertson will be officiating. Visitation will be Thursday with the family present 6:30-8 pm Thursday at Porter Funeral Home.
Hendrena Van Der Naald was born January 12, 1915 at Hospers, IA, second child of Fred and Bertha (Pluim) Van Der Naald. She grew up in the Hospers and later Sioux Center, IA area. Hendrena married Fritz Hamann October 26, 1938 at Sioux Falls, SD. Together they lived at Rock Valley where she was a busy homemaker, cooking, cleaning, and canning for her ten children. She was always a very loving and caring mother to all her children. Fritz died on September 16, 1982.
Hendrena is survived by 9 children, B.J. Hamann Stefani of Des Moines, IA; William (Frances) Hamann of Rock Valley, Ronald (Connie) Hamann of Beardstown, IL, Fred (Marlys) Hamann of Rock Valley, Robert Hamann of Rock Valley, Linda (Jerry) Gullickson of Dickinson, ND, Carl (Linda) Hamann of Portland, OR, Arlyn (Deb) Hamann of Sioux Falls, SD, Dale Hamann and his special friend, Mary Boer both Rock Valley; sister, Greta Gerritsen of Inwood, IA; numerous nieces and nephews.
Hendrena was preceded in death by her husband, Fritz; son, Terry; granddaughter, Amanda Hamann; infant brother; two brothers, Art and Ray Van Der Naald.
