| | | Velma Faye Foster of Bald Knob,Ar., passed away just before noon on Friday, August 28, 2009 in Searcy, Ar. at the age of 104. She was born March 9, 1905 in Argonia, Kansas to Lewis Henry and Viola Baggs Wheeler. Her family moved to northwest Arkansas when Faye was fourteen years old and then later moved to the Bald Knob area where, except for a brief time in Michigan, she spent most of her adult life.
As a young girl she took great pleasure in music and became a self-taught pianist, organist and singer, with a beautiful alto voice. Mrs. Foster was a very hard working determined woman who always trusted in God and found good in some of the toughest times. She was a homemaker, loving mother, grandmother and of the Baptist faith. She also was an accomplished seamstress. She enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing and hearing the words of God.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband of 43 years, Orval Foster; her second husband of 30 years Orda Foster; two sons, Eugene Foster and an infant son Daryl Dwane; one great-grandson John Michael Kelson; one great-granddaughter, Susan Michelle Kelson; one step-grandson Gordon Crippin; one sister, Stella Heathcock; five brothers Harry, Otis, Ernest, Lester and Vern Wheeler.
Mrs. Foster is survived by two daughters, Irene Feagin of Bald Knob, Ar. and Leola Fulmer of Vidor, Texas; three step-daughters, Merline and Carl Seal of Cee Vee, Texas, Winnogean Crippen and Ila Foster of Grants Pass, Oregon; three stepsons, Jerry and Louise Foster of Mountain Home, Ar., Don and Diann Foster of Banning, California and Bill and Patty Foster of Vista, California; nine grandchildren; 14 step-grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 21 step-great-grandchildren; 30 great-great-grandchildren; four step-great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
