Loeta Fay Jackson Patterson of Searcy, age 81, entered into heavenly rest on August 31, 2009, following a battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Mrs. Patterson was born June 29, 1928 in Quitman, Arkansas, to John F. and Janie Hooten Jackson and led a very active life, marrying Audrey Maxwell Patterson on February 15, 1945. She and Max owned and operated Patterson Cleaners for 38 years on Main Street in Searcy. Loeta was named Miss Cleburne County in 1941 and was an all-county basketball player for Quitman High School. She was a homemaker, Searcy County Club golf champion, and Searcy Country Club ladies golf tournament chair. Loeta and Max played the couples golf circuit for years throughout the state. Mrs. Patterson was a member of the Phoenix Club, past president of CARTI Auxiliary, and past president of Alpha Xi chapter of Beta Sigma Phi. She was a 1948 charter member of the Wesleyan Service Guild, serving as president. She was also a member of First United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Fulbright Sunday School Class, a Sunday school teacher, and volunteered in the thrift shop. She loved needlework, sewing, cooking, antiquing, and was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
Mrs. Patterson is survived by her husband of 64 years, Max Patterson; two sons, Steve (Jan) Patterson of Naples, Florida and John (Cara) Patterson of Searcy; four grandchildren, Keath (Jen) Patterson of Tampa, Florida; Stephanie (Robert) Brown of Birmingham, Alabama; Anna (Aaron) Strong, and Amy Patterson and fiancé Birc Morledge, all of Little Rock, Arkansas; and one great granddaughter, Ava Delaney Patterson of Tampa, Florida. She is also survived by three brothers, Olen Jackson, Oather Jackson, and Jimmy Jackson.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 304 North Main Street, Searcy, Arkansas.
