| | | Walter Edwin Ellis, 87, of Searcy died Friday, September 4, 2009.
He was born at Hermitage, AR, October 19, 1921, the son of Walter Sidney and Lula Jane Byers Ellis.
Mr. Ellis was a member of Searcy 1st United Methodist Church, a US Navy veteran having served in the South Pacific in WWII and was a retired School Teacher and Pharmacist. He was member of the Lions Club, American Pharmaceutical Association, Arkansas Pharmaceutical Association and Arkansas Pharmaceutical Ethics Association.
Mr. Ellis’ education experiences included a BSE of Education from Arkansas State Teachers College in Conway, MSE of Education from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, and Bachelors degree of Pharmacy from the University of Arkansas in Little Rock. After holding many positions in Education in Arkansas Mr. Ellis obtained his pharmacy degree in 1961. He owned drug stores in southwest Pine Bluff and Sheridan. In 1986 Mr. Ellis sold his store and became a relief pharmacist until his retirement.
Surviving is his wife of 60 years, Nancy Mouser Ellis; sons, Greg Ellis and his wife Cherrye of Plano, TX, Mark Ellis of Searcy and Steve Corcoran and his wife Jacqui of Portland, OR and a daughter, Jane Williams and her husband Gary of Searcy. Grandchildren, Lauren and Garrett Ellis, Plano, TX, Molly and Emily Williams, Searcy, and Ryan and Morgan Ellis of Searcy.
