Julius Alden “Gil” Gilliam, age 97, of Searcy, died Friday, September 18, 2009. He was born July 5, 1912 in Mullinville, Kansas to the late Perkins and Evie Knapp Gilliam.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Mary “Mack” Hager Gilliam, a brother, Crawford Gilliam and a sister, Pauline Kissell.
He is survived by his second wife, Arvoca Hankins Gilliam, two step-daughters, Jana L. Berryhill of Little Rock, Arkansas and Susan E. Mellor of Chattanooga, Tennessee and seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was a faithful Cristian. He was an airplane pilot instructor for the Civilian Pilot Training Program/War Training Service during WW II. He was also a retired professional real estate appraiser for the Government Services Administration.
