| | | Elva Alene Landis, 90 of Searcy, Arkansas went to be with the Lord on October 7, 2009 at home surrounded by family and friends. She was born November 9, 1918 in Bald Knob, Arkansas. Elva was the daughter of the late Bill and Myrtis (Verden) King.
Ms. Landis was employed by General Motors of Flint, MI until her retirement. She was a member of the Bald Knob First Assembly of God church. Ms. Landis was a loving mother and friend and was never afraid to speak her mind. She was an excellent cook and her home was the favorite gathering place for all. She was a faithful servant of the Lord.
She is survived by one daughter, Faye Landis of Searcy, AR, two sons James Landis (Brenda) and Eddie Landis (Diana) of Judsonia, AR, one brother, Olen King of Bald Knob, AR; three sisters, Nellie Landis of Judsonia, AR, Annie Eden of Bald Knob, AR, and Katie Taylor of Searcy, AR. Twelve grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren and many other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband Doyle Landis, her parents Bill and Myrtis King, one infant child, one son Junior C. Landis; two great grandsons Jayden Doyle Asikainen and Michael David Beard, Jr., one great, great grandchild Bailey Faith Martindill; five brothers, Cecil, Calvin, Myrk, Burl, and Ray; two sisters Gertrude Fritts and Marie Landis.
Service will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at 12:00 o’clock at the Bald Knob Assembly of God. Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Friday at Powell Funeral Home, Bald Knob. Interment will be at Fredonia Cemetery, Bald Knob, Arkansas
