Powers, Present & Sixbey Funeral Home traces its history to its founding in 1874 in the Ashville-Blockville area as the Powers and Davis Undertaking Co. We are the oldest established funeral home in Chautauqua County, and one of the oldest in the State of New York.
After the retirement of Charles Davis, 4 generations of the Powers Family continued the business as Powers Funeral Home until 1993, when it was sold to long time associates John C. Sixbey and Jeffrey B. Present, and re-named Powers, Present & Sixbey Funeral Home, Inc.

JOHN SIXBEY is a native of Jamestown. He received his education in the Jamestown Public Schools and the Simmons School of Embalming and Mortuary Science in Syracuse. He has attended many continuing education courses and seminars over the years, and is also licensed to practice funeral directing in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. A U.S. Army veteran of the Viet Nam conflict, he is a member of Ira Lou Spring Post #149 American Legion, John W. Tiffany Post # 53 VFW, the Jamestown Lions Club,Mt. Moriah Lodge #145, F. & A.M., Vikings Lodge, Thule Lodge,and First Lutheran Church. John lives in Jamestown with his wife Doreen and son Kevin.
JEFFREY PRESENT is also a Jamestown native. He attended Jamestown Public Schools, Allegheny College, and Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. Jeff is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, Mt. Moriah Lodge #145, F. & A.M., and is a Life Member of the Bemus Point Volunteer Fire Department. He and his wife Sharon live in Bemus Point. They have 2 adult daughters, Julia Steen and Leanne Pineo; a son, Jess Patrick Present, who is also a graduate of the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science; and 4 grandchildren.

It is our goal always to provide a service that is comforting and meaningful to our client families, and to do so in a warm, home-like atmosphere. We have eliminated as many of the commercial aspects as possible, so as to allow our client families and their guests the comfortable surroundings that they deserve.
