Ora J. Swanson Stanford, 91, of Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing, formerly of Greenhurst and Southwestern Drive, died at 8:00 P.M. Sunday (Aug. 16, 2009) in the facility.
She was born Oct. 16, 1913 in Bellevue, Ky., a daughter of Alfred J. and Laura ecker Waterman. She was a 1932 graduate of Lakewood High School.
Prior to retirement, she was employed in the greenhouse of the former Lindstrom & Meyer florist aqnd Abrahamson and Johnson florist.
She was a member of the Audubon Society, the Nature Conservancy, and the Buffalo Ornithological Society and formerly attended the First Baptist Church of Frewsburg.
Surviving aretwo sons: the Rev. Philip J. Swanson of Marion, S.C. and Richard K. Swanson of Jamestown; eight grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; a great great grandson; and a brother, Douglas Waterman of Stow.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Thor Kenneth Swanson; her second husband, Waldo P. Stanford; two sisters; and six brothers.
The funeral will be at 2:00 P.M. Monday in Powers, Present & Sixbey Funeral Home, where the Rev. Gerald Haglund will officiate. Burial will be in Fluvanna Cemetery.
