| | | | Mildred M. Leburg, 89, of 230 Schuyler St., Jamestown, passed away peacefully in the early evening Monday (Aug. 24, 2009) surrounded by her family.
She was born May 30, 1920 in Jamestown, the daughter of Edwin M. and Hazel Marie Butler Nyholm. Mildred was a 1938 graduate of Jamestown High School. In earlier years she was employed with Bigelow's Department Store and for 17 years with Upjohn and Caregivers as a home health aide. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Chuch.
Mildred was devoted to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and many friends. She was always proud of her family members and their accomplishments, and did her best to impart in them good moral values. Always one to remember birthdays and other special occasions, she enjoyed all holidays and made a special effort to celebrate them with her family. She also enjoyed people watching, shopping, and finding a good bargain.
She is survived by her children: Douglas (Cynthia) Leburg of Erie, Pa., Jana (Charles) Calalesina of Ravenna, Oh., Steven (Patricia) Leburg of Jamestown, and Wendy (Randall) Present of Bemus Point; seven grandchildren: Kim and Amy Leburg of Erie, Kevin Calalesina of Cleveland, Oh., Marsha Calalesina of Ravenna, Oh., and Britta, Stephanie, and Travis Leburg, all of Jamestown; four great-grandchildren: Matthew Leburg, Ashlie Price, and Alexis Lewis, all of Erie, and James Bennett of Ravenna; and two great-great grandchildren: Leanna Leburg and Matthew Leburg Jr. of Erie.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Richard C. Leburg whom she married on March 19th, 1943 and who died May 25th, 1984; by her brother Edwin M. Nyholm, Jr.; her sister Carolyn June Bloomberg; and by a granddaughter Amanda Marie Leburg.
The funeral will be held at 11 am Friday in Powers, Present & Sixbey Funeral Home. The Rev. Douglas Knopp of Christ First United Methodist Church and her brother-in law, the Rev. Gordon Bloomberg, retired Methodist pastor will preside over the services. Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm, Thursday at the funeral home. Messages to the family may be sent by visiting the
