Glenn B. Smouse, Jr.



 
Glenn B. Smouse, Jr, 78, of 5427 Rt. 474, Ashville, died at 7:25 P.M. Thursday (Sept. 24, 2009) in Roswell Park Cancer Institute.
He was born Aug. 9, 1931 in Bear Lake, Pa., the son of Glendon B. and Marjorie Chapman Smouse.
While a member of the U.S. Air Force Reserve he was called to active duty and served during the Korean War from 1950 to 1952.
Prior to retiring, he had been employed as a sheet metal worker at Dowcraft Corp., and in earlier years while living in California, had worked as a carpet estimator and installer.
He was a member of the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club and Lakewood Memorial Post 1286 American Legion.
Having built his own home, he enjoyed working with his hands and all kinds of woodworking. He also loved horses and dogs.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth A. Hosier Smouse, whom he married Aug. 30, 1954; five children: Stephen W. Smouse of Lakewood, Glenna R. Catanese of Jamestown, Lori A. Overbeck of Trenton, Ill., Andrea K. Wilzen of New Britain, Conn., and Daniel L. Smouse of Panama; ten grandchildren: Michael Chase, Tami Russell, Brandy Hudgins, Kandi Catanese, Andrea Freeman, Rebecca Smouse, Dustin Smouse, Jordan Smouse, Jill Pavlock, and Jackie Summerville; and seven great grandchildren: Daeton Cline, Andon Russell, Jessie Drake, Mollie Drake, Andrew Drake, Nathan Byerly, and MacKenzie Byerly.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard “Dick” Smouse.
