| | | Eleanor J. Sundquist, 83, formerly of 9 Vinnie St., died at 8:10 P.M. Monday (Oct. 12, 2009) in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born July 5, 1926 in Jamestown, the daughter of Richard O. and Esther Widholm Field.
A 1944 graduate of Jamestown High School, she was also a 1965 graduate of the former Jamestown General Hospital School of Practical Nursing.
She had been employed as a nurse at the former Jamestown General Hospital for 22 years, retiring when the hospital closed in 1988.
She was a communicant of Holy Apostles Parish, Ss. Peter and Paul Church, where she was active with the Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a member of Lakewood Post 1286 American Legion, Ingjald Lodge #65, I.O.V., and had served as a volunteer at WCA Hospital.
Surviving are three sons: Paul D. (Betty) and Richard F. Sundquist, both of Jamestown, and David D. (Lisa) Sundquist of Lowville, N.Y.; two daughters: Priscilla A. Sundquist of Huntington, W.Va. and Martha E. (Bradley) Gustafson of Ashville; ten grandchildren: Christopher and Douglas Sundquist of Jamestown, Robert and Michael Sundquist of Lowville, N.Y., Thomas Epperly of Huntington, W.Va., Stephan Epperly of Jacksonville, Fla., Stephanie Clagg of Milton, W.Va., Ryan Gunnell of Ashville, Barry Gustafson of Jamestown, and Shenna Gustafson of Columbus, Ohio; and nine great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul R. Sundquist, whom she married in 1944 at Drew Field, Fla., and who died March 22, 1963; a grandson, Timothy Epperly, and by two sisters: Priscilla Gustafson and Virginia Gribbin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Saturday in Holy Apostles Parish, Ss. Peter & Paul Church. The Rev. Todd Remick will be celebrant Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 -4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. Friday in Powers, Present & Sixbey Funeral Home. Messages to the family may be sent by visiting the website www.presentsixbeyfuneral.com.
