Lucille E. Erickson, 82, of 16 Adams St., died at 12:30 P.M. Tuesday (Nov. 22, 2005) in her home.
She was born June 16, 1916 in Jamestown, a daughter of Erhard “Bud” and Dora M. Vestling Woleen.
A 1941 graduate of Jamestown High School, she had been employed by the former Art Metal Manufacturing Co. during World War II, working as a “Rosie the Riveter.”
She was a member of First Lutheran Church, where she was active with the Senior Fellowship.
Always a person who was up on current events and politics, she was an avid reader and gardener. She loved all sports, and was an enthusiastic fan of the Detroit Tigers, Buffalo Bills, and the Buffalo Sabers.
She is survived by a son, Jeffrey L. Erickson of Cranston, R.I.; two daughters: Deborah A. Castiglione of Jamestown, and Kathleen M. Mallare of Millersville, Md.; nine grandchildren: Rebecca Krasnof of Andover, Mass., Andrea Castiglione of Puerto Rico, Joseph Castiglione of Waterford, N.Y., Gerald M. Moody of New York City, Joshua A. Moody and Bradley L. Erickson of Cranston, R.I., Jason P. Mallare of Annapolis, Md., and Erica M. and Benjamin P. Mallare, both of Millersville, Md.; and two sisters: Dorothy Elmeer of Frewsburg, and June Pearson of Gerry.
She was preceded in death by her husband, S. Lawrence Erickson, whom she married Oct. 28, 1942 in Buffalo, and who died March 8, 1979; a brother, Raymond Woleen; and a sister, Bernice Knorr.
The funeral will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday in Powers, Present & Sixbey Funeral Home. The Rev. Mary Anne Nelson-Loefke, pastor of First Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Friday and for one half hour prior to the funeral service Saturday in the funeral home. Email condolences may be sent by visiting the website www.presentsixbeyfuneral.com.
