Burton Prugh
Owner/Funeral Director
Burton Prugh is the owner of Prugh Funeral Service. He is the fifth generation of his family to operate the business. He is a graduate of Iowa Wesleyan College with a degree in Business Administration and also a graduate of The Wisconsin Institute of Mortuary Science. Burton is a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer. He served in the US Army Mechanized Artillery during the Vietnam War. His hobbies include boating, woodworking, playing the guitar, gardening, creating pen and ink drawings and restoring old cars. Burton is past president of the Burlington Rotary Club,past president of the Art Guild of Burlington, past president of the Special Needs Foundation of Des Moines County and treasurer of the Crapo Park Foundation.
Joanne Prugh
Owner/Office Manager
Joanne Prugh is the office manager for Prugh Funeral Service. She has worked with her husband Burton for the past 17 years and they have been married for 38 years. She is the mother of their two daughters Lindsay Fruehling and Molly Prugh. She enjoys cooking, entertaining and traveling. She is past treasurer of the Southeast Iowa Symphony Pops Concert and has served on the board of the Visiting Nurses Association.
Richard West

Richard "Dick" West, 60, died Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at his home from a sudden heart attack. He was a Funeral Director for Prugh Funeral Service for 17 years. Douglas Beck
Licensed Funeral Director
Doug Beck is an Iowa licensed funeral director. He is a long time resident of the Des Moines County area. Doug and his wife and three children live in Burlington. His wife is a school teacher in our community. When Doug is not serving families at Prugh's he enjoys hands on restoration at his home and buildings. Doug is an avid motor sports enthusiast with his two boys. They enjoy snowmobiling in the winter and motorcycling in the summer.
Charles "Charlie" Ervin
Preneed Counselor
Charles Ervin a long time Burlington resident has been a Prearrangement Specialist for the past 17 years. He has been with Prugh's for nine years. He is a licensed insurance agent in the state of Iowa. He is the father of two sons, Ryan and Zachory. When not serving families, Charlie enjoys commercial art, playing the guitar and piano and he holds a degree in Shaka-Kempo Martial Arts.
Lindsay Prugh Fruehling
Office Administrator
Lindsay Prugh Fruehling is the sixth generation of her family to be associated with the firm. She attended Southeastern Community College and Bradley University. She and her husband John have a six year old son Coulter; a two year old daughter Hannah Grace and a new daughter Ava Katherine who born this September. She is a member of the Burlington Fine Arts League and enjoys traveling.
Charlotte Shafer
Secretary
Charlotte and her husband Brad make their home in Biggsville, Illinois. They are the parents of a daughter, Stephanie (Jamie) Jarrett of Burlington and two sons, Nick (Ammie)of West Burlington and Travis (Morgan)of Dubuque. They have one grandson, Kennan Bradley Shafer born November 21, 2008. She also has four step-grandchildren, Cade, Mallorie, Ethan and Riley. Before coming to Prugh's she was employed by Bi-County Insurance of Biggsville, served as secretary for the Mississippi Valley Council, Boy Scouts of America and later as a payroll clerk at the IAAP. She is a member of the Biggsville United Presbyterian Church where she is in the chimes choir and teaches Sunday School. She is active in the Henderson County Relay For Life and has been the Chairman for the Henderson County Relay for the past five years and serves on the IL Task Force. She enjoys spending time with family and friend's.
James Wilt
Service attendant
James "Jim" Wilt retired from the J. I. Case Co. in Burlington where he was honored for the longest employment of all Case employees. Jim graduated from the Air Force Police Academy and served four years in the Air Force Military Police. He was a police officer in West Burlington for twelve years. Jim is widowed and makes his home in West Burlington. His duties at Prugh's include assisting at visitations, delivering flowers and driving one of the pallbearer or family cars.
Mary Rosenberg
Organist
Mary Rosenberg has been the staff organist at Prugh's for many years. She is a long time Burlington resident. Mary is one of the areas most accomplished and versatile organists. She is also the church organist at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Burlington and enjoys playing the Wicks pipe organ in Prugh's Chapel. She is the mother of four children and the adoring grandmother of seven children. Her husband, Keith died in 2004.
Gary Young
Licensed Funeral Director
Gary is a graduate of Roseville High School, Black Hawk East College, and has an A.A.S. in Mortuary Science from Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg, Illinois. He is married, has two daughters, three granddaughters and one grandson. Having spent the majority of their married life in Henderson County, Gary and his wife now own a home in West Burlington, Iowa. Gary began working for Prugh Funeral Service on June 30, 2008.
Tim Agnew
Service attendant
Tim was born to a railroad family and is the 5th generation of his family to live in Burlington. During his youth he was an avid 4-H member with a special interest in quarter horses. His interest in quarter horses continued for more than 35 years. Tim is a graduate of Truman State University majoring in education/business. He served in the military for 8 years and recently retired from The Hawkeye Newspaper as a major account representative. Tim is a member of St. John's Catholic Church. He is an active member of Kiwanis, The Eagles Club and The Knights of Columbus. He serves on the advisory board of the Great River Medical Center Rehabilitation Health and Fitness Center. Tim's hobbies include boating on the Mississippi and restoring older homes. He is also a vintage automobile enthusiast.
