Lloyd Noteboom, 85, of Burlington, Iowa, died at 6:09 p.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2009, at Great River Medical Center, West Burlington, Iowa.
He was born on March 11, 1924, in Centerville, South Dakota, the son of John and Hattie Van Hull Noteboom. He married Judith Sederberg on September, 1948, in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Lloyd was a newspaper reporter and city editor. His military career had a big impact on his life. He obtained four battle stars including the Battle of the Bulge and the D Day Invasion. He attended the University of Minnesota on the GI Bill. He studied journalism and worked at the Minot Daily News and the Sioux Falls Argus Leader for the next 30 plus years. He retired to Spirit Lake, Iowa and then to Burlington to be with his family. He was affiliated with the Protestant faith.
He is survived by his wife Judith; two daughters, Karen Hacking and Carol Kullbom, both of Burlington; one son, Kevin Noteboom of Minneapolis, Minnesota; one grandson; and two granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Private interment of ashes with honors will be at Fort Snelling at a later date. No formal services are planned. As per his wishes, cremation has been accorded.
