Doris Peterson Steingreaber, 82, of Burlington, died at 9:45 p.m. Monday, Sept. 7, 2009, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born July 12, 1927, in Stronghurst, Ill., she was the daughter of Clarence Edward and Bertha Polson Millizer. On March 14, 1946, she married Ralph Peterson in Burlington. He died April 14, 1987. On Nov. 26, 2000, she married Robert Steingreaber in Rozetta, Ill. They divorced.

Mrs. Steingreaber was a homemaker and worked briefly at Midwest Biscuit Co. She was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed her church family and cooking. She was often complimented on her personal attire and appearance.

Survivors include one daughter, Dawn (Bill) Zurmuehlen of Stronghurst; two sons, Carl (Judy) Peterson and Michael Peterson, both of Burlington; one daughter-in-law, Betty Peterson of Burlington; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Eileen Schmeiser of Burlington and Bonnie Keever of Oquawka, Ill.; several nieces and nephews.

Besides her first husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Ralph Peterson Jr., her parents and one brother, Lyman Millizer.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Prugh’s Chapel in Burlington where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Steingreaber will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Prugh’s Chapel with the Rev. Tyrone Henderson officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington.

A memorial has been established for Alzheimer’s Association.
