M. Jeanne Wilson, 88, of Burlington died at her residence on Thursday, October 1, 2009 at 7:40 p.m.

Born on May 3, 1921, she was the daughter of George and Edna Ritzenthaler Parkins. She married Bill Dale Wilson on December 30, 1939 in Burlington at St. Paul’s Rectory.

She was a homemaker and seamstress. She was an avid reader, cruciverbalist, bird watcher and wildlife devotee. She sponsored a child from Kenya through Christian Children’s Fund. She supported several charities including St. Vincent DePaul’s and Iowa P.B.S. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Parish since 1945.

She is survived by six daughters, Diane (Bob) Mansheim, Liz (Tim) Buhmeyer, and Maggie Pettit of Burlington, Melissa “Missy” (Patrick) Mulholland of Sperry, Sarah (Michael) Wilson-Benninghoven of Burlington, and Barbara “Bunny” (James) Wilson-DeWitt of Des Moines; 20 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Dale Wilson; her parents, George and Edna Parkins; one daughter, Susan Naples; and two sisters, Barbara Franz and Mary McGahey.

A Mass of Christian Burial will he held on Monday, October 5, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at SS. Mary & Patrick Catholic Church in West Burlington, Iowa. Fr. David Steinle will officiate. Special music will be provided by The Des Moines County Resurrection Choir. The body will be cremated following the service and burial of ashes will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery at a later date.

A rosary will be recited on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. in Prugh's Chapel following which the family will receive friends until 4:00 p.m. Memorials have been established for Christian Children’s Fund & St. Vincent DePaul's Food Pantry.
