Helen Lucille Wineinger Brown, 95, of West Burlington, Iowa, died at 8:10 a.m. on Thursday, November 5, 2009, at Great River Hospice House, West Burlington, Iowa.

Born on August 6, 1914, she was the daughter of Grover and Belva Thornington Wineinger. She married Frederick James Brown on May 19, 1933, in Rock Island, Illinois. He died on October 15, 1999.

She was a loving homemaker. She was also an Avon distributor for several years. She loved to play bridge and was a feisty, fun loving, witty, loving friend of many. She was affiliated with Trinity Lutheran Church.

She is survived by two sons, Dennis (Patricia) Brown of Burlington and Richard (Marilyn) Brown of New Port Richey, Florida; seven grandchildren, Rick Brown, Ron Brown, Kriss (Larry) Heiman, Susan (David) Gray, Kathy (Tom) Ferrario, Linda (Rick) Metcalf and Michael Brown; thirteen great-grandchildren, Megan, David, Jena, Jeff, Andrew, Stephanie, Nicole, Benjamin, Lauren, Ryan, Tammi Lynn, Douglas and Alaina; five great-great-grandchildren, Brody, Aunika, Payton, Brandon and Myella; and her special friend since childhood, Helen Liles.



She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one sister, Naomi Doran and one great-grandchild, Lindsey.

Funeral services for Helen Lucille Wineinger Brown will be held on Monday, November 9, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at Prugh's Chapel. Pastor Eric Swanson will officiate. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

A memorial has been established for Trinity Lutheran Church & Great River Hospice House.
