Carroll T. Ancell age 83 of rural Fairfield died at his home on Saturday,
November 14, 2009.
Born March 14, 1926 at Turkey Scratch in Wapello County, the son of
William and Inus Rhodus Ancell. He grew up in the Turkey Scratch community and attended rural schools before graduating from Eldon High School in 1946. Carroll attended Indian Hills Communtiy College.
He married Joanne Thompson on April 30, 1960 at Joy, Illinois. They have lived in the Fairfield area for the past 60 years. He has been in poor health for the past 3 years.
Carroll was a farmer and worked in maintenance at American Chain and Cable Co. in Fairfield.
Deceased family members include his parents and all of his siblings: Mildred Van Trump, Alta Gonterman, Mabel Murphy, Bud Ancell and Ruth Anderson and
1 grandson William Ancell.
Surviving are his wife Joanne, his son and his wife Frank and Mary Ancell of Muscatine and his daughter Kathleen Ancell of Fairfield; his grandchildren : Matthew, Megan, Brandon and Marcus and great grandchildren : Bryce, Nattalea, Kaylee and Killian,
and “Farmer Carroll’s special friend Henry.”
Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at the Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield with Pastor Danny Cary officiating. Interment will be in the Floris Cemetery at Floris.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at Raymond’s in Fairfield.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be given to the Fairfield Public Library
