Norval Barger Evans, age 90, died on June 1, 2010 at the Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield, Iowa.
Norval was born February11, 1920 in Metropolis, IL to Fred and Ruby Reedus Evans. He received a bachelors degree in Biology from Parsons College. He was a veteran of WWII and was commander of a mind sweeper in the Aleutians, Islands. He married Elsie Mae Larson, June 21, 1947 in Salina, Iowa. At one time, he was co-owner of the John Deere Dealership in Fairfield. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church, VFW and Chamber of Commerce. He also served as President of the Rotary Club and was a State Senator.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Elsie on July 14, 2009; 1 brother: Charles Evans.
He is survived by 1 daughter: Christine Anne( Earl) Keyser of Fairfield; 1 grand daughter: Amy Keyser of VA; 2 sisters: Grace Moore of CA and Opal Thorn of CA;
Several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Friday June 4, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Fairfield with Pastor Philip Barker officiating. Interment will be in the Salina Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5-7 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Lutheran Church in Fairfield or to the Salina Cemetery Association.
