Ednore L. Cowen age 99 of Packwood died Wednesday, October 20th at Sunnybrook Assisted Living Center in Fairfield.
Born October 17, 1911 at Webster, Iowa, she was the daughter of Roy Edgar and Lenora Ann Smith Sorden.
Ednore grew up in the Webster and Keswick community.
She graduated from Webster High School and attended Iowa State Teachers’ College and Parsons College.
She taught in the rural schools at Keota and Packwood.
Ednore married Charles Cowen on May 29, 1939 at Webster. They lived and farmed in the Packwood community. He preceded he in death.
She was a member of the Packwood Christian Church, C.W.F., T.T.T. Chapter F. ,
The Sew and So Club, Flying Farmers and the Retired Teachers Association.
She was preceded in death by her husband, 2 sons: John Paul Cowen and Richard Lyman Cowen, her parents and 2 brothers: George Lyman Sorden and Hal Smith Sorden.
Surviving are her 2 sons: James Roy Cowen of Kalona, Iowa and Dennis Charles Cowen of Loudon, Tennessee; 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 9:00 A.M. Saturday at the Packwood Christian Church with Reverend Frosty Van Voorst officiating.
Interment will be in the Packwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at the Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.
Memorials are designated to the Packwood Christian Church.
Arrangements are in the care of the Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.
