| | | Gladys went home to her Beloved Lord on August 29, 2008. She was the daughter of Fraser Bushey and Elmira (Reome) Bushey and loving step-daughter of Ruby Pratt Bushey. All predeceased her.
She attended Mooers Central School and the University of Vermont.
She is survived by her brothers Clarence J. Bushey and his wife Esther of Plattsburgh, NY, and Gerald Bushey and his wife Irene of Utica, NY; her sisters Leda Bushey of Ilion, NY and Catherine Thorne and her husband Chuck of Queensbury, NY; nineteen nieces and nephews and their spouses; and her many beloved friends especially her cherished caregiver and friend of 34 years, Madonna Betit.
Gladys retired from Verizon and was a Telephone Pioneer. She had also worked at Baird Children’s Center and in Real Estate.
The Monthly Request for Priests Calendars on which she worked even when very ill was very important to her. The Secular Order of Mount Carmel, to which she belonged for almost 40 years, had great priority in her life.
The loves of her life were her faith and her family, including her Carmelite Community.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 1, 2008 at 11:00 am in St. Joseph’s Co-Cathedral in Burlington. The family will be present in the Parish Hall following the Mass. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Moores Forks, NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Joseph School, 20 Allen St., Burlington, VT 05401; to the Visiting Nurse Association, 1110 Prim Rd., Colchester, VT 05446 or to the Carmelite Sisters, 89 Hiddenbrook Dr., Beacon, NY 12508-2230.
