Vivian Mary Dockery, 16, of Colchester, VT returned home to her heavenly father on September 17, 2008 after a courageous eight year battle with cancer. She will join her loving grandfather, Jack Cornish and faithful canine companion, Rose.
Vivian loved all animals and rescued as many as she could. She leaves behind her well loved, precious menagerie of four dogs, Gracie, Lucy, Maddie, and Jay; four cats, Eddie, Smokey, Venus, and Sammy; and parrot, Emril.
Vivian was a joy to her family and brought the gift of laughter to all she knew. Her parents were very proud of her.
She will be missed by her loving parents Tom and Georgiann Dockery of Colchester, VT and devoted brother Thomas Dockery, USAF, Shaw AFB, So. Carolina. She is survived by her caring and supportive family members, maternal grandmother Dorothy Cornish of Bryan, TX, uncles Jack Cornish of Houston, TX and Alan Cornish of Spearman, WA, and great-aunt Betty and uncle Harry Neville of College Station, TX; paternal grandparents James and Margaret Dockery of Malden, MA; uncles Stephen Dockery of Exeter, NH and James Dockery and aunt Joan of Tewksbury, MA, aunt Ellen Dockery of Stoneham, MA, and by several cousins.
The family wishes to acknowledge and thank Vivian’s dear friend and pediatric oncologist of eight years, Nejemie Alter, MD and the excellent caring staff of Doctor’s Regional Pediatric Oncology Unit in Corpus Christi, TX. The family appreciates Dr. Alter’s setting of a high standard of care that has not been met by other doctors or units in Corpus Christi. The family is grateful to Vivian’s friend, pediatric oncologist and devoted Neuroblastoma Researcher, Giselle Sholler, MD of Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, VT. Vivian’s family also thanks the staff of the inpatient pediatric unit, Pediatric Oncology Clinic, Pediatric Intensive Care, and child life and social work at FAHC for their loving and attentive care of Vivian.
