VIEW/SEND CONDOLENCES
| | | With his four children gathered at his side, William "Bill" Muller died on September 26, 2008 in his South Burlington home. Bill battled cancer for two years with both courage and self-determination.
He was born on April 16, 1936 in Malone, New York. Bill was the sixth of seven children born to Florida (Rousseau) and Jacob Muller.
The family moved from Malone, New York to Springfield, Massachusetts in 1941 where Bill completed elementary and middle school. He graduated from the former Springfield Technical High School in 1954. Shortly after high school, Bill began an apprenticeship at the General Electric Corporation and started work there as a machinist and toolmaker. He left GE and joined the U.S. Marines in 1957. Bill was proud of his military service and was honorably discharged 1959.
After leaving the military, Bill returned to work for General Electric and married Sandra Keeley. They had three children during the
years Bill worked for General Electric in Springfield, Massachusetts. He transferred to the Detroit, Michigan plant and moved with his family to Michigan in 1970. In 1972, Bill
transferred to the General Electric plant in Burlington, Vermont. They had a fourth child in 1974.
After more than thirty-five years with General Electric, Bill retired in 1991 at the age of 55. During his retirement years, he cherished time spent with family and friends and shuttled cars for local auto dealerships. He spent time with his special friend Loretta Benoit. Bill enjoyed neighborhood gatherings in South Burlington.
Bill was a communicant of Saint John Vianney Parish and was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Bill is survived by his friend Loretta Benoit of Burlington; his former wife Sandra Beranek of Florida; son Mark Muller of Burlington; son Stephen Muller of Massachusetts; daughter Julie
Larson and her husband Richard of Florida; daughter Diane Bugbee and her husband Douglas of South Burlington; grandsons William, Noah, and Oliver Bugbee of South Burlington; brother
James Muller of Kentucky; brother Robert Muller of Massachusetts; a sister Marilyn Neale of Connecticut, and many nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his sisters Theresa and Charlotte and brother George.
Bill will be remembered as a loving father, devoted grandfather, and good friend. He had a keen wit and great sense of humor. Bill loved a good game of cribbage and watching the Boston Red
Sox. During his lifetime Bill asked for little and gave so much to his family. He will be greatly missed.
Visiting hours will be held at the Ready Funeral Home, South Chapel, Shelburne Road, Burlington from 5-7 pm on Monday, September 29th. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at
St. John Vianney in South Burlington on Tuesday, September 30th at 10:00 am. Internment will follow at Resurrection Park.
