CHRISTINE CAREY CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. — Christine Carey passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 14, due to injuries resulting from a car accident. She was born in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., on April 4, 1962. Christine attended Shelburne Community School, Champlain Valley Union High School and was a graduate of Siena College. Chris went on to start Best Interest Mortgage where she worked for a number of years before taking an early retirement, allowing her to dedicate her time to several volunteer organizations, and in 2006 to host the local radio show, R.S.V.P. to Life. In this remarkable program, Chris told the stories of people who have rolled up their sleeves to address some of the most pressing issues of our time. A woman of great strength and conviction, Chris committed her life to caring for the greater good of the environment and to those who needed inspiration to do good things with their lives. She had a great love of art and music and was involved with her local community to use these gifts to help others through a variety of programs and services. Be it the Girls Club of Albany or WRPI in Troy, N.Y., Chris spent years reaching out to children and adults alike and continued to further her own education as she pursued ways to better the lives of others. She will continue to be an inspiration to many as an example of success and strength in the face of personal obstacles. Encouraging others to reach their own potential was her passion and she did it with a tremendous amount of grace. Chris' favorite poem was written by Marge Piercy. “I want to be with people who submerge in the task, who go into the fields to harvest and work in a row and pass the bags along. Who move in a common rhythm when the food must come in or the fire be put out.” Chris will be tremendously missed, but will live on in the thoughts and actions of those who she inspired to be their best. Chris' death was in keeping with her life in that she left this world thinking only of what she had left to do, and perhaps what she could still do. Her decision to be an organ donor was her parting gift. To learn more about “Chrissy” please log on to www.myartjournal30.blog spot.com or go to www.rsvptolife.com . Christine is survived by her loving parents Thomas and Theresa Carey of Shelburne; a brother Kevin and his wife Kathleen, and their three children Allison, Grace and Thomas also of Shelburne; a brother John and his wife Suzanna and their children Emmett, Michael and Daniel of Perkasie, Pa.; an aunt Phyllis Lang of Manchester, Mass.; an uncle Anthony Meliti of Hyde Park, N.Y.; and several cousins also survive Christine. Visiting hours will be on Sunday, Oct. 19, from 4 to 6 p.m., in the Ready Funeral Home, 261 Shelburne Road, Burlington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Shelburne on Monday, Oct. 20, at 11 a.m. To send online condolences to the family please visit www.ready funeral.com .
